Dr. Cathy Chamblee holds a bachelor’s degree in special education, magna cum laude, from James Madison University and one in music education, summa cum laude, from the University of Richmond. She also holds a master’s degree in choral conducting from Emory University and a doctorate in music theory from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a recipient of the 2004 Dean’s Award for Distinguished Teaching in the School of Arts and Sciences. She is a published music scholar on the intersections of musical improvisation and cognitive memory theory. Currently, Cathy is a theory lecturer and tutor for the Music Department at the University of Pennsylvania.
