Steven Sametz, a master of the Christmas arrangement after 40 years of Christmas concerts at Lehigh University and work with his professional choir, the Princeton Singers, provides a dance-like arrangement of a traditional Irish chant.
From Sametz:
Angelus ad virginem tells the story of Gabriel’s’ annunciation to Mary from the Gospel of Luke 1:26-38. It appears in English, French and Irish manuscripts from the 13th-16th centuries, both in Latin and in Middle English (” Gabriel fram evene king” ). It was a popular enough tune to be quoted in The Miller’ s Tale in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales (late 14th century) where Nicolas, the young cleric of Oxford,
made melody in the night,
So sweetly that all the chamber rang;
And Angelus ad Virginem he sang.
